5th Grade

I’m thrilled to be a 5th-grade teacher at Timber Trail Elementary!

I graduated Cum Laude from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Communication Disorders and later earned my teaching credential from California State University, San Marcos. I’ve been teaching for over fifteen years, with experience in California, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Teaching is my passion, and I am deeply committed to creating a classroom where every student feels valued and capable. I believe all children are capable of success—no exceptions! My goal is to inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

A little about me personally: I love my family! I have two exceptional children—a son who graduated from CSU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a daughter who is a senior at CU studying Environmental Design. My husband, a retired Marine, now works as an air ambulance helicopter pilot and travels all over the country. We live in Castle Rock and enjoy everything Colorado has to offer.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and reading. I'm also an animal lover and share my home with two dogs and a bird.

Hello and welcome to fifth grade! I’m Kylie Wempen and I am the new fifth grade teacher at
Timber Trail. This is my first year teaching, and I couldn’t be more excited to meet your student
and begin our exciting year together.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado.
I’m especially passionate about building a strong classroom community. I want every student to
feel a true sense of belonging and know they are welcome, valued, and loved just as they are.

Outside of school, I have two wild and wonderful cats who keep my life interesting. I am a huge
fan of Disney and Pixar movies and have never said no to a rewatch night. I have always loved
light in all forms, from colorful string lights to summer fireflies (I wish we had them in Colorado)
to city skylines glowing at night. I am also a big math person and love helping students see that
math can be fun and creative. When I am not at school, you will probably find me watching
something cozy or enjoying way too many breadsticks at Olive Garden.

Fifth grade is such a special year and I am so excited to be on this journey with you. I want to
build strong connections with my students and their families and believe open communication
helps every student shine.
