TTE Balanced Beginning Letter

Dear Timber Trail Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to have your Kindergartener joining our school in just a few weeks. We have a special transition process in place for our Kindergarten students called Balanced Beginnings. The first days of school will be staggered, with small groups of students coming in rather than the entire class. This eases the transition into Kindergarten and allows teachers and students to build positive relationships, introduce the new environment and routines, and collect informal data as they begin their year with students.

This means that Kindergarten students will not begin full days of school until Thursday, August 12th. Kindergarten students will be assigned a half day to come in and transition into their classrooms with a small group of 6-7 students on Monday, August 9th or Tuesday, August 10th. Then the first day of regular school for our kindergarteners will be on Thursday, August 12th.

Your child’s kindergarten teacher will be reaching out to you soon with your child’s assigned day and time.  Your child will be assigned to one of the following sessions.

  • Monday, August 9th: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  • Monday, August 9th: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday, August 10th: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  • Tuesday, August 10th: 12:30 - 3:00 pm

Please note that kindergarten students will not have school on Wednesday, August 11th.  Kindergarten’s first full day of school will be Thursday, August 12th.

We invite you and your kindergartener to join us for our “Meet & Greet” on Friday, August 6th from 1:00-3:00 pm.  During this open house format students may bring in school supplies, see their room and meet their teachers.

Mrs. Petau and Ms. Hastings, our kindergarten teachers, will hold their ‘Back to School Night’ on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:00 pm.  Please note, if you have other students at Timber Trail, their ‘Back to School Night’ will be on Thursday, August 12th at 6:00 pm.

We are looking forward to meeting your kindergartener and helping to make their transition a smooth and joyful one.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
