  Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! 


  We had a fun week reading and learning about Laura Numeroff’s circle stories. We worked on retell, text to self connections, and main characters. This week we took our chapter 10 math test on composing and decomposing numbers 11-19. In writing we are working on adding sight words to our stories and adding details on their own. 


Spring Conferences:

Spring conferences will be held the week of March 7th. They will be virtual again. Spring conferences are optional unless I have requested a meeting or you would like to request a conference. I sent out a conference form this week. Please return as soon as possible so I can make a master schedule. 


**If we do not meet for conferences, you will still receive a packet with updated test results/assessments and an updated progress report.**


PLEASE sign and return your conference slips that were sent home last week. 


Read Across America

We will be reading a variety of books by Dr. Seuss this week. Your child is invited to participate in our Read Across America spirit week! A hard copy came home in red folders.

Substitute:

I will be out Monday and Tuesday morning to give the students their formal Spring reading assessment. I will share results during Spring conferences and/or in their assessment packet. I will be back in the classroom in the afternoons. 


R.E.D. Book and Book bags: 

Please keep all books in the bag. This  will help with lost and damaged books. New books will go home on Tuesday. If you did not return your book bag on Friday, please return on Monday. I try to have them ready to go for the following week. If books are not returned, no new books will go home. I hope last week went well! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Read Across America /Author Study - Dr. Seuss


Math

Chapter 10  

Compose and Decompose Numbers 11-19 test.


Literacy

This week we will be reading several Dr. Seuss books. We will be working on characters, setting, and comparing  his stories. 


Writing

We will incorporate our writing with our author study. We will be comparing/contrasting the stories using a double bubble map and making connections and predictions.


We are working on drawing a picture with five or more details.  Students are writing simple sentences using the sight words we learned.  If they do not know how to spell a word they are stretching out the sounds they know to create their words.
