Happy Sunday!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

This week we will continue our PBL unit on "Family" and "All About Me."  This week I will also introduce the "Bucket Filling" philosophy. I have attached a link to the book if you would like to see what we will be talking about. We will work on noticing our own, family members, and classmates' invisible buckets. We will use this philosophy all year long.

Theme/Unit: All About Me, Family Ties (Our first PBL unit) and Bucket Filling
Math: Chapter 2. We will continue to rotate through math centers and dive deeper in ways to show math vocabulary. We are learning "more" and "less."
Literacy: Letters "c" and "o." We will work on identifying the letters, the sound(s) the letters make, and correctly write upper and lowercase. These are "Magic C" letters.
Writing: The letters c, o, n, m, i and u are  "plane" line letters. They will begin at the "plane" line and stop at the "grass" line. Writing Paper Template Link

Friendly Reminders/"Happenings":

Math Test:On Monday I will be sending home your child's topic one test. Please look it over with your student and return the test AND signed pink slip. I am proud of the kids!

Reading Homework: On Monday I will include a paper book we read in class. The kids were practicing the sight word "am." They are practicing pointing to each word as they read (not skipping or adding words) and writing and reading our sight words. These books can stay at home. You can save them and use them as a familiar read with your student.
Fun Activity Link to store books from school. (This is optional)

School Pictures: If you ordered school pictures, they were in red folders on Friday.

Star Student: Each week I will pick a student (at random) to be our Student of the Week. When it is your student's turn, I will send home a notebook with all the information you will need. Thanks so much!
