8/8/2021 - First Week of School

Hello Kindergarten Families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This weekend we celebrated my daughter's 11th birthday and got ready for school to start!

I will send weekly emails to keep you posted about what is going on in the classroom. I try to send out a "Sunday Snapshot" so you know what our week is going to look like and activities that we will be doing in class. Thank you in advance for reading my emails. I know there is a lot of information coming out right now. :)

Thank you so much for joining me at meet and greet! I LOVED meeting my new kindies and families. I know we will have a fun, happy, positive, and sweet year! If I missed you, I will send home any materials with your child when they come to Balanced Beginnings (BB). If you have any supplies, please bring them to school on your child's BB day.

*Below is our schedule for this week. Please note that our times are different from the rest of the school. This will only be this week as we introduce our awesome kindergarten students to TTE.*

Monday: Balanced Beginnings for students assigned at 9:00a.m. or 12:30p.m. time slots. I will pick up students outside of the school at the flagpole. Please drop and pick your child up outside. Please bring a backpack, snack, and a water bottle.

Tuesday: Balanced Beginnings for students assigned at 9:00a.m. or 12:30p.m. time slots. I will pick up students outside of the school at the flagpole. Please drop and pick your child up outside. Please bring a backpack, snack, and a water bottle.

Wednesday: NO school for kindergarten students.

Wednesday: Back to school night for kindergarten families ONLY. Please meet us in the library at 6:00p.m. If you are unable to join us, I will send home any information and post our presentation on my website. Parents only. Thank you!

Thursday: First day of kindergarten with the whole class! I will meet my students/families outside at 8:45 a.m. You are invited to join us for a short story. After the story, I will gently ask my parents to leave so I may get my year started with my students! If you are unable to join us for the story, no worries. I will greet the kids at the door every morning and make sure they get where they need to be. I also have TTE staff in my room the first couple of days to help with morning routines.
*NOTE that grades 1-5 will begin at their regular school times. We will give kindergarten families a chance to walk in a few minutes later. :)*

Friday: Day two of kindergarten. Students will walk in and meet me at our classroom. Tardy bell rings at 8:30. I will be waiting for them at my classroom door. There will also be lots of staff to help walk kids in and help with busses.

Daily Supplies: Please send your child with their backpack, 2 healthy snacks, a labeled water bottle, lunch, their back-n-forth folder, and any weather permitting clothing EVERYDAY.

Transportation:Thank you for filling out the transportation sheet. If your child's transportation needs change, please email me AND the office. Thank you!

Back-n- Forth Folder: This is a daily communication folder I use with the kids and families. Sometimes there may be paper/forms/etc. Sometimes it may be empty. Please send back EVERYDAY. I check their red folders everyday. Please use this to send me any notes, money, forms, etc. This helps with lost materials at the bottom of backpacks. :)

Lunch: Please send your child with lunch from home for the first 7 days of school. This will help them get used to our routines and eating in 20 minutes. They will go to recess for 20 minutes after lunch. I will be in the lunchroom to help them the first week of school. I will let you know when they can get a hot lunch from the cafeteria. As of now, hot lunch will be free to students this year. :)

Specials: We will be going to MUSIC this week.
Thank you for trusting and sharing your sweet student with me. I know kindergarten is the beginning of their school journey and I am so happy I get to be a part of it. I know this year will be AMAZING!

Thanks for reading my long email! It will not always be this long. :)

Warmly,
Jessica
